They ruin things. Mostly in a good way.
You start making small adjustments.
A corner of the bed is no longer yours.
There’s a bowl where a chair used to be.
You leave the house with treats in your pocket
and no memory of putting them there.

You become strangely fluent in ears, tails, side-eyes, and the very specific silence that usually means someone is doing something they shouldn’t.
They don’t care about your five-year plan.
They don’t know what you do for a living.
They know when you’re home.
THEY LIVE HERE TOO.
And somehow, that changes the place.
Living with animals comes with stuff.
Bowls. Brushes. Beds.
Treats. Toys.
Some necessary.
Some beautiful.
Some inexplicably shaped like food.
Not “good for a pet product.”
Just good.
SOME WE FIND.
SOME WE’LL MAKE.
Because life is better with animals.
Even with the hair.
